Ⅰ.What Is Cutting Tools?
All the edged tool that can process the workpiece through the method of cutting could be called cutting tool. Cutting tool is one of the basic production tools that must be used when cutting, and its variety and performance will directly affect the variety, quality, productivity and cost of products.
With the continuous development and change of the material, structure and precision of the workpieces in long-term production practice, the cutting methods are becoming more and more diversified; and the cutting tools used in the machining process are also developing and has formed a rarher complex system in structure, type and specification. But in general, cutting tools can be divided into standard tools and non-standard tools these two categories. The so-called standard tool is the tool that made according to the state or department formulated "Tool Standard"(such as GB/T, JB/T, ISO, etc) , mainly manufactured by the professional factory. It is commonly used in various types of machinery manufacturing industry, such as: aluminum wheel hub machining, automotive , aerospace, valve port and military manufacturing and other heavy industry enterprises, and the demand is great. Non-standard cutting tools are designed and manufactured according to the special requirements of the workpiece and specific processing conditions, mainly produced by the users themselves.
In addition to standard cutting tools, Emet can also provide customers with non-standard customized service. Providing us with the dimensions or drawings is enough for the non-standard cutting tools manufacturing; but for the cutting tools with complex internal structure, such as Capto system, need to providing with samples to achieve the best.
Ⅱ.The Characteristic Of Turning Tools
There are many kinds of cutting tools, including cutter, hole processing tool, broach, milling cutter, thread tool and so on. Cutter is the most widely used basic cutting tools in metal cutting processing, its characteristic is relatively simple structure--only a continuous straight edge or curve edge, it belongs to the single-edge tool. And cutters include turning tools, planing tools forming turning tools and many others, among which turning tools are the most representative, with the following characteristics:
a. The most widely used tool;
b. Complete the external cylindrical, internal hole, end surface, parting, grooving and threading machining on the lathe;
c. Generally a single-edged tool with only one main cutting edge;
d. Cutting motion is rotary motion, completed by the workpiece;
e. The feed motion is linear motion, completed by turning tool.
Ⅲ. Several Common Kinds Of Turning Tools
According to the characteristics of the machining surface, the turning tool can be divided into external turning tool, face turning tool, internal turning tool, groove tool, face grooving tools, back turning boring bars, boring bars, internal grooving and turning bars for machining aluminum wheel, threading tools and many other compound functional turning tools.
ⅰ. External Turning Tools
It is used for roughing turning or finishing turning the workpiece's external surface (cylindrical or conical surface). The following figure shows the commonly used external turning tool:
There are mainly the following several types of external turning tools:
a. The width of the cutting edge of the wide blade fine turning tool is greater than its feed, which can obtain low the surface roughness. It is generally used for half-finishing turning or finishing turning with a processing allowance of 0.1-0.5mm. But because of its auxiliary angle of 90°, the radial force is large and easy to vibration, it is not suitable for the occasion of high stiffness of the process system;
b. Straight head external turning tool has the advantages of simple structure and convenient manufacturing, but with poor versatility. It is generally only suitable for cylindrical turning;
c. The turning tool of 90° cutting tool edge, the radial force will be smaller, so is suitable for machining the outer surface and shoulder surface of stepped shaft or slender shaft;
d. Elbow turning tool can not only turn the outer circle, but also turn the end face and chamfer, which shows that its good versatility. In order to meet the production needs of single piece and small batch, the main and secondary angles are generally made into 45° (Other angles also can be customized, which depending on customer demand);
ⅱ. Face Turning Tools
Face turning tools are specially used for turning planes perpendicular to the axis. In general, face turning tools are fed from outer edge to the center, so that it is easy to measure the length of the machined workpiece surface. If there are holes in the end face, the method that feeding from the center of workpieces to the outer edge could be considerated, which can achieve lower surface roughness.
It should be noted that "breaking edge" phenomenon will appear when using the face-turning tools of more than 90 ° main cutting edge angle.
